Cognitive Neuroimaging

The educational bureau Biosciences is looking for a teaching assistant to assist the third-year course Cognitive Neuroimaging (NWI-BB081B) on Thursdays and Fridays in the third quarter of the academic year 2026.

If you would love to help out with the tutorials and hands-on computer practicals in particular, and moreover have experience in Matlab with fMRI and/or EEG analysis, you are invited to apply.

Tutorials follow a question and answer format and go over various neuroimaging techniques in humans and animals. While the content has already been made, you are expected to help guide these sessions and answer content-related questions. During computer practicals, students go through Matlab worksheets on fMRI and EEG preprocessing and analysis. For these sessions, you will be available to answer basic coding and worksheet-related questions. Finally, students are asked to make short research proposal presentations, and you help to answer questions related to the presentations.

In total there are 4 (x 2 hours each) tutorials, 3 (x 2 hours each) computer practicals, and 1 (x 2 hours) student presentation session. Some preparation time prior to each session is expected so that you feel comfortable answering content-related questions. The expected workload for the course is 4-6 hours per week for 8 weeks.

Experience as an assistant is preferable. Enthusiasm, motivation and still being a student at Radboud University yourself are a must!

If you are a first-time teaching assistant, be aware that you will be required to follow a 4-hour didactic skills training.

Note that if you are a non-EU student, you will need a work permit. It takes about 5 weeks to file all the paperwork, so keep that in mind when applying for a job as a teaching assistant, as well as that you are allowed to work a maximum of 16 hours per week.
